READ THIS BEFORE APPLYING TO THE HAMILTON BANK BUILDING:
This building is an SRO. and DPM Property Management are slumlords. do NOT believe the photos they have on their website. Make no mistake: this is a slum and every "suite" is half the size of a normal bedroom.
if you move in to this place? here's a list of things you can expect:
- police coming in to arrest people, regularly.
- police coming in to do wellness checks regularly.
- you WILL have mice run over your body at night while you try to sleep.
- you WILL get bedbugs. and this is a massive issue that has been a constant problem for years and shows no signs of ever slowing down.
- when you DO get bedbugs (and you will. there's no question about this), the property management company will try and blame you for it.
- because of the mice and bedbugs you WILL have to throw away most of, if not all of your clothes and your mattress when you move out.
- and when you do have to throw those things out, the property management company will try their best to make sure you don't know about how they have to reimburse you.
- the shared bathrooms WILL occasionally be coated with either human shit or vomit. (I personally have witnessed both on more than one occasion. it will boggle your mind on how one single human can contain that much puke or poop and how they managed to get it all over the floor and the walls.)
- your neighbours WILL be addicts. nearly all of them are on opioids or are uncontrolled alcoholics. (learn to use a naloxone kit and have one with you. you likely WILL need to use it on someone.)
- the noise from the trains WILL keep you up at night. forget about ever getting a good nights sleep at The Hamilton. you WILL hear shunting collisions so loud that they shake the walls at 3 or 4 in the morning. almost every night.
as a former resident? I can assure you it is NOT worth it. just spend the extra 200-300 dollars a month and just get a basement suite or a bachelor apartment somewhere further south. an extra 45 minutes commute will save you from a living nightmare.
Just recently there was a bedbug infestation and the laundry facilities, that DPM Management claimed you had to use to sterilize your linens, was out of order for an entire month.
Residents were washing their clothes in their sinks like it was the Soviet Union.
STAY AWAY.
this building should not exist. it should be torn down and replaced with... well... anything but this slum. a parking lot would be better than what exists now
Don’t move in.
